Every now and then I have to go deep. Today is that day.
What if today was your last day?
Each day is a gift, not a given right. That's what Nickelback sings of in the song, "If Today Was Your Last Day". So let's have some fun today.
If today was your last day and you knew it, how would you handle it?
Would you forgive you enemies? Would you tell the people you love that you love them? What would you do? What wouldn't you do? Remember tomorrow is too late because it's over after today.
I can only speak for myself and how I would handle it. I have spent most of my life giving to others. I have not been anywhere close to selfish. I haven't pursued my wants, desires, and dreams that I wanted to because I always have had someone else to depend on me for. Love, support, money or whatever. In our example, today is my last day, tomorrow is too late what would I do? That's hard to say. I would want to spend time with my loved ones. Work wouldn't matter. Only friends and family would matter. Bottom line: Personal relationships.
Personal relationships are the ones that make life worth living. They are what we look forward to in our life. While we may enjoy our professions, they aren't typically what we live for. We live for the time with our families, friends, and colleagues That's what makes life worth the expense. That's what gets us going. That's what turns us on and makes it happen for us as humans.
It's never too late to change. While you can't rewind, you can always start fresh. Change how you talk to people. Say please and thank you. Ask someone how they are doing and mean it. Pay for a complete stranger's latte. Hold the door for that couple running for the door because it's pouring down rain.
Take the road less traveled. Live each moment just as if it was your last. Life was meant to be experienced. It was designed by our heavenly father to be taken in. Enjoyed. Not to be stressed to the max going a hundred miles an hour with our hair on fire. I don't picture him being rude, I am sure he is a door holder without a doubt.
So, what are you going to do? Remember today very well COULD be your last day. Or mine. Every second does count so make sure that they count because there is no second try. No do overs. No reset.
Say goodbye to yesterday. It's gone. The only thing you have is the present and the future. Go make it happen. Change your life but more importantly change someone else's life forever.
Note of special thanks and consideration:
